Walk the site before installation
Map seating, food preparation, walkways, vegetation, competing lights, and access for cleaning. For solar models, also look at daytime shadows. A position that looks convenient after dark may receive very little useful sunlight during the day.
Compare your options
| Consideration | What to check | Buying decision |
|---|---|---|
| Charging position | Inspect shadows from roofs, trees, and nearby walls. | Keep the panel exposure compatible with the model instructions. |
| Evening position | Review seating, foot traffic, and nearby lighting. | Avoid obstructing movement or placing the unit directly in occupied space. |
| Maintenance position | Make sure the unit can be reached and removed. | Leave room for the cleaning procedure. |
Placement factors buyers should review
Review sunlight access, pedestrian traffic, nearby competing lights, and the areas where insects are most active.
- Choose locations with stable sunlight for solar charging
- Avoid placing traps too close to seating and dining zones
- Review mosquito pressure near drains, plants, and walls
- Check whether the model suits tabletop, wall, or pole placement
Before you decide
Change one placement variable at a time when comparing locations. Keep a simple log of the position and operating hours. Follow the model instructions for mounting height and separation; a single universal distance is not appropriate for every product format.
- Adequate sunlight matters for solar-powered models
- Placement should balance trap coverage and user comfort
- Height and distance from seating areas affect use experience
- Protected placement can improve outdoor durability
